A Bridge for Kids wins 10News Leadership Award and Preuss School Honor!

Tammy and Michael Nance, Co-Founder's of A Bridge for Kids, were recently recognized by Channel 10 News and LEAD San Diego for the work they have done with the organization.  The 10News Leadership Award recipient is a monthly honor and recognizes individuals in the community who provide leadership by making San Diego a better place to live, standing up for those who need help, has initiated or created solutions for others, is a role model and fulfills a local need - thereby improving the quality of life for all San Diegans.IMG_6330Kimberly Hunt from 10News presented the Nance's with their award, which they received on behalf of the entire organization, and also filmed a segment highlighting the work A Bridge for Kids has done in the community and for at risk teens throughout San Diego County.  The segment aired during the month of June and in case you missed the original airing you can click here to watch the presentation and interview.Image 1A Bridge for Kids was honored again later in the month, this time by the Preuss School, UCSD.  Scott Barton, Principal of The Preuss School, surprised Mr. and Mrs. Nance with the prestigious Spirit of Preuss award during a year end assembly.  Preuss has been recognized by Newsweek as the top transformative high school in the nation for three years in a row and it was quite an honor for A Bridge for Kids to receive such a wonderful accolade.A Bridge for Kids continues to grow it's partnership with Preuss and has awarded over $30,000 in sponsorships to their students over the past 2 years.  This financial support has been used by students to buy clothes and school supplies, pay for college application fees and more recently to purchase airfare so they can attend educational camps throughout the country this summer.
