A Record $30,000 in New Sponsorships Awarded in November

The nominations for teen sponsorship keep coming in, and we are busy interviewing large numbers of low income, high achieving teens within San Diego. Due to the generosity of those attending Casino Night – Monte Carlo, this November we will be awarding a record $30,000 in sponsorship to students in need of financial assistance here in San Diego County. What will sponsorship mean to these teens?“If I were to receive A Bridge for Kids Sponsorship, I would use it to buy my soccer and squash equipment. ………. when I don't have shin guards for soccer I'm not allowed to play since it’s a requirement to play with shin guards. Or once I grow out of my indoor shoes I can't practice squash because it hurts to play with them and I'm not allowed to enter the court without indoor shoes. But playing both these sports is what has helped me get through my childhood and what makes me believe today that I have potential to do whatever I want in life no matter what obstacle is in the way.” Lisette“When you face an obstacle and overcome it, it makes that much of a stronger person. And if you’re strong enough, you can fulfill your dreams and goals. But sometimes you need help on the way to getting there.” Ilhan“Money isn’t the only thing that will get me places; determination, ambition and diligence will. However financial stability is a good boost in my endeavor towards my dreams. I aim to go far in fulfilling these aspirations and with the help from the people who surround me and those who support my efforts, I believe that I will get there in no time. I know that Bridge for Kids has helped hundreds of students like me achieve their goals and I hope that soon, I will be one of them.” Natalie “By being sponsored by the Bridge For Kids program/sponsorship opportunity, I can rely on the funds provided to buy the things necessary to get through high school, and possibly college. ……………….. If I possibly receive an education past high school, not only will I be a first generation student on both sides of my family, but I could set an example to my siblings, cousins, and my entire family. After all, college paves the way to a successful life.” MiguelOur deepest thanks goes out to all of our sponsors who are indeed making a difference in the life of a teen who can now envision a brighter future.
