Hardworking Helix Senior Achieves New Heights

Hardworking. That’s the first impression one would get upon meeting Jonathan. With his “Helix TENNIS” jacket on his back, book in his hand, and bright smile on his face, hardworking was the first impression that he made during his interview with A Bridge for Kids.Jonathan is an upcoming senior at Helix Charter High School in La Mesa. Passionate, dedicated, and diligent, Jonathan is looking at Stanford, Yale, and UCSD (just to name a few) with an intent on majoring in economics/business/finance. As mentioned in his essay, he came to America in his freshman year of high school. He says, “I didn’t know any English, at the same time, I was trying to learn the system. I didn’t know there was AP classes, clubs, counselors,  I did not know that there was a person who cared about me. I did not know what college was, what they were looking for.” But, Jonathan tried his best to immerse himself in his studies and athletics and went out of his way to learn more about how to achieve his dream of going to college. With all of his accomplishments and refusal to let hardships take him down, he is well on his way to having a bright future.Read more on Jonathan, by Jonathan at this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByAwwS9SbcKgMV80NGRLUjdxZjg/view?usp=sharing
