Going to college is a big deal, and deciding where to go is never an easy choice. There are so many factors that play into choosing a school that gives it the weight it deserves. A large component is the idea that where you end up going to school will inevitably shape you into who you are going to be. Something that makes this decision even scarier is the thought that your new home may very well be 3,000 miles away from everything you know. A new community, new lands, new ways of thinking, and most of all… New weather! ABFK offers East … [Read more...]

Arete Program Takes our Students to New Heights
Areté is a Greek word meaning "excellence" or virtue," being the best one can be. The areté of something is the highest quality that can be reached. Ancient Greek philosophy stressed the development of areté in three aspects of one's life: Mind, Body, and Spirit. Similarly spelled to areté, an arete is defined as a sharp mountainous ridge. This last weekend, we partnered up with Vertical Hold Rock Climbing Gym, for our first-ever Arete Program. For the first part of the program, we talked about what it means to be a good team, leader, and … [Read more...]

Looking Back Over the Years
It’s been 10 years since A Bridge for Kids was founded, and as we all know, Rome was certainly not built in a day. It’s because of all our sponsors' generous giving spirit, and the power of belief, that we have been able to become the organization we are today. Step by step, every year, we brainstormed and implemented new programs to benefit our students. Some sponsors even say that we offer more to our students than they did to their own kids! This Holiday season, we wanted to look back to our roots to see how far we have come. In 2012, A … [Read more...]
