A Bridge for Kids Hosts Campus Crawl 2014- Northern California

A Bridge for Kids hosted it’s first ever Campus Crawl in Northern California this past week.  With help from our friends at the Preuss School, six seniors were able to visit many different  colleges in San Francisco and Central California, tour the campuses, sleep in dorms with Preuss alumni sponsors and have a lot fun along the way.   Everyone learned a lot over the 3-day trip and a few even found a new “home” for the next 4 years.   A Bridge for Kids wants to thank all of its generous supporters for helping to make this life-changing event possible.  Don’t believe it was “life changing”?   Well, read what our students had to say when they returned to San Diego:If it wasn't for this trip, I would have most likely gone to a community college in my hometown. I had never visited any of these campuses and now that I have, I definitely don't want to go to a community college anymore!  CSU Chico almost felt like home. I didn't feel like I was in a strange land, I just had a good feeling about this school. I am and will be forever thankful for this opportunity to go on this trip. This was an amazing opportunity and something I would never have been able to do on my own.   –IsabellaIMG_0381Growing up with the adversities of being a foster child I would have settled for any school that gave me the best financial aid package. Coming on this trip has really allowed me to see the difference between schools.  If it wasn't for the trip provided by A Bridge for Kids, I would have settled (for something closer to home)…without the consideration of these other amazing schools. – Salvador     IMG_0392I am extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to visit the colleges I was accepted to and considering on attending located in Northern California. Being able to see each college in person and even spend the night at two of the colleges we visited, has allowed me to feel like a college student and compare the vibes I personally got from each school. Because of this trip I have fallen in love with CSU Chico and plan to attend this fall. Each school was nothing like I expected and I now realize the importance of visiting colleges before making any decisions. I was able to get all of my questions answered, get in contact with people who can further assist me in my process of becoming a college student, and much more. A Bridge for Kids has truly helped me in choosing the college I will be attending.  If it weren't this trip, I most likely would not have been able to visit any of the colleges that we did and would have chosen a school closer to home to attend simply because I would be scared to attend a school I've only seen pictures of and heard stories about.  –MinaIMG_0386Without this trip I would not have narrowed down my top two college choices, which are: CSU Chico and SFSU.  –KathleenThis trip sponsored by A Bridge For Kids was very eye opening. Originally I wanted to stay in San Diego because I was too scared to move out and live on my own, but I was able to converse with other Preuss School alumni who helped me realize that it would be a great learning experience.  I'm grateful to have been able to come on this trip because I would not have been able to travel by myself. I am now 100% sure about which college I plan on attending.  -Jimmy
