GAEL GOES TO SWAT
Gael, a high school senior hailing from a family of five, recently achieved a remarkable milestone - he received a full ride for four years at Swarthmore College. This achievement not only highlights his academic prowess but also sheds light on his dedication to community service, passion for robotics, and more.
Gael's tight-knit family, consisting of two siblings - an older sister and a little brother - has played a crucial role in shaping his character. Despite the demands of academics and extracurricular activities, Gael makes a conscious effort to spend quality time with his family. This commitment to family values reflects his grounded nature and the support system that has propelled him forward.
Gael's journey in the world of robotics began during his freshman year. Having risen amongst the ranks, he assumed the role of Media Officer. Gael was also one of the few students selected to participate in our ABFK/ServiceNow internship. Reflecting on his experience, Gael expresses how empowering it is to apply math and science in a collaborative environment. For him, the iterative mindset learned in engineering extends beyond robotics - it's a philosophy he applies to every facet of his life. Gael believes that continuous improvement is essential, often stating, "The only way to consistently move forward is to sometimes take a step back."
As Co-President of the Interact Club, Gael has found a way to give back to his community while deepening his connections with friends. The blending of community service with enjoyable experiences has left a lasting impact on Gael, shaping his understanding of the importance of contributing to the well-being of others.
Gael's academic achievements are nothing short of stellar. Having passed five AP exams, he earned the prestigious AP Scholar with Distinction Award. Maintaining an impressive 4.0 unweighted GPA throughout middle school and high school, Gael's commitment to academic excellence has been unwavering. His dedication to learning and knowledge is further evidenced by his participation in the Questbridge program and the Discover Swarthmore Program. Gael's visit to Swarthmore College left a profound impression, as he found a community that shared his values and passion for education.
In addition to his academic and community pursuits, Gael finds solace in soccer - a therapeutic activity he enjoys with family and friends. The sport provides a platform for conversations that range from soccer-focused discussions to sharing deeper thoughts.
Gael's creativity extends into the realm of music, where he spends his time crafting beats. Over the last two years, he has dedicated himself to perfecting and mastering this craft, creating dozens of beats in the process. Much like in his academic and community endeavors, Gael applies an iterative mindset to his music, constantly seeking ways to improve and refine his skills.
