Giving Tree Brings Holiday Cheer to Local Foster Youth

This holiday season, once again, brought A Bridge For Kids and the La Jolla Country Day School together to continue their tradition of providing seasonal joy for San Diego's low income and foster youth. The Giving Tree event creates excitement and joy on the school campus as students and their parents peruse a board full of icons, each one naming a needy child, their age, and the gift they wish to receive this year. Requested items are often PJ's, slippers, make-up, robes, sports shoes, gift cards, game consoles, phone chargers, toys and more. For many of these kids, this may be the one and only gift they receive this holiday.
Additionally, $5,000 was generously donated by La Jolla Country Day's community to purchase items for A Bridge For Kids teens supporting academic, athletic, and/or artistic interests and talents. School supplies, computers, college application fees, sports equipment and apparel, art supplies, and musical instruments are just some of the items that will be purchased using these funds.
We thank the La Jolla Country Day community for once again opening their hearts and continuing to partner with A Bridge For Kids in this effort to bring a joyous holiday season to San Diego’s children.
