Kiara Gomez Wins 4th Annual Essay Contest and $2,000 First Prize

Our annual essay contest has been a great way for us to get to know underprivileged teens on a personal level and reward them for their articulation. Starting in 2011, we have been able to reward over 150 students all over San Diego with sponsorships.

With these sponsorships, A Bridge for Kids teens have been able to purchase basketball shoes that have won CIF championships, paint that landed them in prestigious art schools, prom dresses that allowed them to fully experience high school, take part in college visits, and so much more.

The sponsorship that is given to these students is more than merely currency. It’s given the students bliss in sports games, satisfaction of being accepted to their dream schools, content of their high school experience, and invaluable knowledge of what schools are wrong and right for them.

The annual essay contest is the starting point of implementing these great aspects to underprivileged teens’ lives. Aspects that they would not have if it was not for this program and its sponsors. A special congratulations to the 2016 A Bridge for Kids Essay Contest winners!
