A Bridge For KidsTeens Helping Teens in 2014 Leadership ContestDescription and Application
Description:
A Bridge For Kids’ mission is to build a bridge between teens who are in need of financial assistance to support academic, athletic and artistic talents and those people that can provide these resources. In doing so, we strive to make lasting improvements in the lives of young people and the society in which they live.
Most of the teens we partner with at A Bridge For Kids have one thing in common - they volunteer in and give back to their communities. We want teenagers all around San Diego to be inspired to be leaders. We challenge you to come up with a creative way to raise awareness or funds to help A Bridge For Kids help more teenagers in San Diego achieve their dreams! How to get involved:Simply complete the attached application and email to tnance@abridgeforkids.org and A Bridge For Kids will give you the tools to be a Leader in your community. From there you can organize your own creative fundraising event to raise funds or awareness to support local teenagers that are in need of your help. You can track your Community Service hours worked. You can also take photos of your project and send us a brief summary of the program you created and we will feature it in the A Bridge For Kids Newsletter or on our Facebook page.Fundraising ideas are plentiful including having a car wash, a lemonade stand, a bake sale, a garage sale, organizing a fundraising event with a sports team or club you belong to, or even collecting bottles and cans for cash. Contact a local business about hosting a fundraising day, or write a story about A Bridge for Kids and present it to your school or youth group.Be inspired to come up with your own creative idea and watch how it grows and develops! Two successful fundraising efforts in 2013 were:Brandon N. last year raised over $2,000 by putting donation boxes in local businesses in San Diego, tracking the money each business raised and giving them a monthly newsletter which tracked his progress and gave updates on how the funds supported the lives of local teens.Sophia K. arranged a fundraising drive for the Giving Tree Holiday Program with her travel volleyball team to help a local basketball player attend a basketball tournament over the holidays and give the struggling family of 8 each at least one special holiday gift.We challenge you to fill out the attached application, send it back to us and start making a difference today!
