The Preuss School Senior Wins First Prize in 7th Annual Essay Contest

We are thrilled to announce the winners of the 7th Annual A Bridge for Kids Essay Contest! High school students throughout San Diego County submitted an impressive 341 essays, which is almost twice as many as last year. Students were asked to write about the biggest challenge they have faced and how it has shaped them today. A panel of volunteers evaluated the essays based on creativity, originality, clarity, and overall impact. Congratulations to the winners!

Crawford High School had a record 6 finalists

The winners of this year's essay contest have been announced. Alexandra Morales, a senior from The Preuss School at UCSD in University City, has earned first place. Devon Overbey, a senior from Mt. Carmel High School, has earned second place. Salma Abdullahi from Crawford High School has earned third place. This year's winners consist of ten students, with six of the ten from Crawford High School, which sets a new record. Interestingly, for the fourth time in seven years, a student from The Preuss School has earned first place.

The 7th Annual A Bridge for Kids Essay Contest winner, Alexandra Morales, will be awarded a $2,500 sponsorship. Devon Overbay, who secured second-place from Mt. Carmel High School, will receive a $1,000 sponsorship. The third to fifth-place winners will get a $250 Amazon gift card, while the sixth to tenth-place finishers will receive a $100 Amazon gift card.
