West Coast College Tours - 2024
A Bridge For Kids recently embarked on our annual West Coast College Tour, offering twelve eager students a glimpse into the world of higher education. Beginning bright and early on a Monday, our journey commenced with a visit to the picturesque campus of UC Irvine. Amidst its stunning surroundings, students were captivated by the campus layout, setting a promising tone for the days ahead.
Tuesday saw us exploring the esteemed campuses of USC and UCLA, where anticipation ran high among the group. While many initially anticipated UCLA to be their dream school, the overwhelming atmosphere left some feeling more at ease and welcomed at USC, highlighting the importance of finding the right fit in the college search process.
Wednesday brought us to the charming coastal campus of Santa Barbara, where the allure of an active lifestyle coupled with the beauty of the beachside location left students awestruck. The vibrant atmosphere and sense of community resonated deeply with our group.
On Thursday, our itinerary led us to the intimate settings of Pitzer and Pomona, providing a stark contrast to the sprawling campuses we had visited earlier. The cozy campus environments, reminiscent of a close-knit community, left a lasting impression on many students, with some remarking that these colleges felt smaller than their current high schools.
Unfortunately, our last day was met with unexpected rainfall, leading to an early departure without visiting UC Riverside. Despite this unforeseen challenge, the trip proved to be a valuable experience, broadening horizons and opening doors for our students. From breathtaking campuses to intimate settings, each stop offered unique insights into the college experience, empowering students to make informed decisions about their futures.
As we journeyed back home, it was evident that the West Coast College Tour had left a lasting impact, sparking newfound excitement and motivation among our students as they chart their paths towards higher education.
