Where are They Now: Kevin Longoria

Kevin Longoria is a highly motivated first-generation Latino student who graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Management Science and Engineering. He is interested in finance and technology, but equally passionate about supporting underrepresented communities such as border communities. During his time at Stanford Kevin always found a way to stay in touch with his roots by keeping himself busily involved. He stayed active in the First Generation Low-Income Student Organization as a student leader. In this role, he exposed students, similar to himself, to the opportunities that are often times gatekept or appear unattractive to students from these backgrounds. Kevin also participated in volunteering with Stanford’s Society of LatinX Engineers and was active in Stanford Finance (as the VP of Community Outreach) and Stanford Marketing (as VP of Finance & Senior Consultant) as well.

After graduating, due to Kevin’s hard work and work ethic, he was granted an opportunity to choose between Microsoft and JP Morgan. His enthusiasm for tech & finance drove him to Microsoft, where he serves as a financial analyst. “In the past, I have served as a project management intern with an immigration rights non-profit organization, business operations intern with an e-commerce startup, and have explored my interests in commercial real estate as well as VC through diversity programs. Beyond work experience, student organizations have given me a plethora of experiences, whether it was managing donations from multi-million dollar corporations or overseeing a $30k budget for the school's leading first-generation/low-income organization. Through this exposure, I have learned to become a collaborative contributor and a leader within organizations. When I am not working on a new project, you can find me either playing soccer or checking ESPN every five minutes to see what is the latest updates in the sports world.”

As Kevin continues to develop his professional career, giving back is a value he has always held close. Whether it is a small impact such as sharing resources or developing fundraising efforts, he values creating opportunities for communities that do not have them. Always paying it forward and not expecting anything in return, Kevin hopes to sponsor and mentor a student of his own soon!

Good job Kevin! Keep up the good work, we are all very proud.
