Linh- Family Comes First

I earned myself a spot on the girls varsity basketball team freshman year. This came to me as a surprise because I had no prior basketball experience. I understood very little of the game and knew only basic basketball skills. My basketball skills slowly started to develop and expand as the years went on. Sophomore year, I was awarded as “Best Defensive Player”; This was the first basketball recognition I received and I was ecstatic with my improvement. Now as junior year comes to an end, I have recently been awarded as the “Most Valuable Player” of the year. Throughout my basketball career, I have improved myself as a player and with this, my coaches see a future for me as a college player.

Between working, taking care of my siblings, and taking care of my grandma who was recently diagnosed with cancer, my parents are only able to provide me with emotional support. With the sponsorship, I would be able to financially support myself with my basketball career. Basketball shoes, shorts, and socks are some essentials that I currently lack and would be very delighted if I were to be able to have.

Aside from being athlete, I am also a student. With senior year approaching as my last year in high school, I want to be able to participate in all the senior activities and get the most out of my high school experience. Expenses for senior year activities such as prom, the yearbook, and grad night will be difficult for my parents to afford. With the sponsorship, I hope these expenses will be covered so I may enjoy my last year at school without worry. In addition, I wish to purchase a laptop because I feel that it is an essential got all students. Applying to various programs, scholarships, and colleges will be time consuming and with a laptop, I can complete these tasks with ease at home, at school, or at the library. As a student athlete with leadership roles throughout campus and a very tight schedule, having a laptop will help me manage my schoolwork and enable me to bring my work whenever I go.
