My Name is Chizitere Jessica, an incoming Junior at Gompers Preparatory Academy. I am Nigerian. I have 2 Immigrant parents, three sisters, and two brothers. I love to sing, cook, dance, work out, and play basketball during my free time. As a student, I tend to be involved in many things. I volunteer at STARPAL, a Leadership and community service engagement program; I have been with this program for the last two years. I am also a part of an all-girls program called FANCY, a program that helps develop essential workforce skills and strengthens leadership skills.

During the covid 19 lockdown, I attended many medical seminars about different careers in the medical field and the courses required for each domain. Attending these seminars inspired me to want to become a Pediatric Anesthesiologist or an OB/GYN.

Something I learned about myself that stimulated my interest in this field is my personality traits and my hobbies. For example, when; I cook, I don't just cook for myself; I cook for others because cooking is a way I show that I care for someone. I consider myself a caring empathetic leader and a good communicator.

I am interested in becoming a Pediatric Anesthesiologist because I love working with kids, but with becoming a Pediatric Anesthesiologist, the children don't remember you (because of their age). However, it's the continuity of care you show them and the inner joy you get from doing so that matters. I knew I wanted to work with kids since I was a little girl. I loved to carry and care for them every time my parent's friends would bring their newborn babies. I help babysit my little brother and sometimes my little nephew. Because of my love for working with kids, I volunteer with Traveling Stories, a non-profit that empowers children to achieve their dreams through literacy support and mentoring services. I hope to continue with this organization for a long time.

Also, I am interested in becoming an OB/GYN because I am keen on learning more about women's bodies and their journey through pregnancy. I knew I wanted to become an OB/GYN because of my conversations with my Mom, Aunt, and Cousin's wife. I found myself fascinated and Interested in learning about childbirth, Stuff like the before and after care of caring for a pregnant woman. I would achieve my goal of becoming a Pediatric anesthesiologist or an OB/GYN by continuing to keep my grade up and getting my high school diploma. I will continue to be more involved in my community by volunteering with non-profit organizations. I will Attend a 4- year university, hopefully on a full-ride Scholarship. If not, I would consider joining the military and attending medical school.

If chosen to be a part of A Bridge for Kids, I would put those funds towards furthering my education and passions. I would be able to take dance and Singing lessons; both are my passions because they make me feel free and happy. I would also use the funds to apply for Stem Orientated programs such as NSLC or FACES Summer Medical Academy. Both programs give high school students in-depth and hands-on opportunities to explore their interests in the healthcare field. Attending these programs will provide me with an exact idea of what I want to pursue in the future. This Sponsorship would greatly help me and my education by opening many doors and opportunities for my future. I would be beyond grateful if chosen for this fantastic opportunity. Given the above, I firmly believe I merit this program.
