When my family and I came to America from our war-torn home in 2015, I was just starting 2nd grade. It was really tough adjusting to everything – the language, the culture, even the way school worked here. But I knew we came here for a reason: to have a safer and better life. My parents never had the chance to go to college, and I saw how much that held them back.
I don't want that for me or my siblings. That's why I'm determined to go to college. I've learned a lot since coming here. Like how important it is to work hard and stay focused. My family's support has been everything to me. I'm the third oldest out of eight, and I want to set a good example for my younger siblings. I want them to see that with education, we can do anything. Getting a college degree isn't just about me though. I want to give back to my community too. There are so many people who need help, especially with healthcare. I've learned that with patience and perseverance, anything is possible. I know it won't be easy, but I'm ready for whatever challenges come my way.
Overall, joining Bridge for Kids could provide me with the extra support and resources I need to succeed in high school and beyond. The resources and workshops bridge for kids offers will help me with things like college preparation, scholarship applications, and career planning. These are all things that will be important for me as I start thinking about life after high school. To be given the opportunity to join bridge for kids would mean the world to me, I'll be thankful and ready to make the most of every chance. I know it can help me grow and do good things.
