A Bridge For Kids gives a $25,000 “hand up” to deserving teens!

A Bridge For Kids had a very busy month of April, thanks in large part to a very generous donor. The La Jolla based non-profit awarded over $25,000 in sponsorships during the month to San Diego students in need of financial support. Thanks to the organizations largest ever individual donation in support of its sponsorship program, from the Rodeki Foundation, along with several other large contributions, A Bridge for Kids was able to help over 20 local students take a big step closer to achieving their dreams.   It is so exciting to be able to meet with so many deserving teens and let them know they will be getting a hand-up with expenses related to their academic, athletic and artistic endeavors!” said, Tammy Nance.   Students from Castle Park High School, The Preuss School, UCSD, East Lake High School and Sweetwater High School all benefited from this outpouring of support over the past month.   Francis Canda, from Sweetwater High School, was one of the beneficiaries of a $2,000 sponsorship. Francis immigrated from the Philippines when he was young in search of a better education and the recent death of his father has made it difficult for the family financially. Francis commented after receiving his sponsorship, “your generous contribution brought my mother to tears of Joy, and left me in almost disbelief that someone would be kind enough to help me.” “I still want to achieve my dream of becoming a doctor, and following in the footsteps that my father once walked.” Francis, a junior, who ranks near the top of his graduating class, will also be taking part in A Bridge for Kids sponsored trip to visit some of the top colleges along the east coast.   Francis is looking forward to seeing firsthand what his dream school, The University of Pennsylvania, looks like close up this summer.
