Sadie - Success Story
My name is Sadie and I have been in 12 schools and lived in countless places. My parents were addicted to drugs and alcohol and split up when I was three. After my Dad left us my mother started to abuse my sister and drugs. Finally, we moved into a homeless shelter and after six months, my sister and I were placed in a foster home. After a year the foster family didn’t want us anymore, we were separated. I was alone, I ate alone and not one of my foster “parents” would speak to me. After a month, I said “God if you’re real, find me a home where I am loved.” The next day I was kicked out again!I did not know it but God had answered my prayer. I moved in with my aunt and uncle through the Foster system. Financially we did not know how but as we stepped out on faith God took care of the rest. My experiences have taught me to have faith and perseverance.Life doesn’t always go the way you think it will or how it is supposed to go. I realize that the only thing to do is to pick yourself up, learn from the situation. I have developed a passion to work with young struggling children because I feel I can touch them at a deeper level having lived that life. I am planning on pursuing a PHD in Psychology in college and going into counseling. I would like to use my life’s experiences to give back to my community and help other children who are at a critical point in their life as a young teen.“A Bridge for Kids has not only allowed me the opportunity to succeed in school, but it has also graciously given me a new family, in whom I love." - Sadie
