A Heartfelt Thank You
Dear Trudy and Eric,I would like to start off by saying thank you for sponsoring me through the A Bridge for Kids foundation and granting me with this scholarship that was a blessing all year long. It makes me happy to know that there are kindhearted people like you willing to help me (and my family) have an easier year. When I received this sponsorship I asked for my very own lacrosse stick. The stick that I had been using previously was not mine; therefore I could not practice outside of school with it regularly. But with it, I could now I could now practice at home and the longer I held the stick in my hands, the better player I became. It was also a lot lighter than the old one I used to play with and that was very significant because running up and down the field gets tiring. My lighter stick was also much easier to manage and with it, I was able to play my best games. I also had my very own gear to play with during season and I was very thankful for that because my lacrosse goggles were able to protect my eyes from fast, hard flying balls. I used the money to purchase cleats that were more comfortable to run in during games than running shoes. I am also very grateful for the clothes and books I was able to buy. Since I wear uniform for school, I do not really own normal clothes. But now I will have some for when I attend college in the fall. I really love to read, and books are just something I needed to ask for because my parents do not buy me books. They are busy trying to pay bills therefore I do not feel very comfortable asking them to buy me items such as books. With these books I was able to become more knowledgeable and enhance my writing skills. Everything that I have bought with this scholarship has been very useful. From my lacrosse stick to SAT prep books and even a purchase of a calculator I have felt more prepared in school and more comfortable in school as well.To me this scholarship meant more than just money. Winning this scholarship reinforced my mindset that if I set my eyes on the prize and if I put in all my effort into what I want then I will get it. Whether it is in sports, academics, or scholarships, I know that I can achieve what I want with my fiery determination.Again, I would like to say that I am very thankful for everything that was given to me. I will continue to keep in touch as much as possible and inform you to which school I will be attending to in the fall. The advice given to me was very helpful and I appreciate everything you have done for me. Sincerely, Laura
