Here's What They Said: College Essay Application Program
For many high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds, the college application process can feel overwhelming and unfamiliar. They may be the first in their families to apply to college with no roadmap, no editor, and no one to help shape their personal story into a compelling essay.
That’s where A Bridge for Kids steps in.
Our College Essay Application Program pairs students with experienced writing mentor who guides them through one of the most critical parts of the college admissions process. With personalized coaching on structure, tone, and storytelling, students learn to articulate their journeys with clarity and confidence and often for the first time. This isn’t just about getting into college. It’s about being seen and heard.
“Apart from the money that helped me get stuff I couldn’t, the most helpful part of this program was when Judy, through the College Essay Application Program, read through my PIQs and told me what I should fix or improve on. It helped me a lot because it improved my writing skills—it was helpful information that I can even pass down to my younger brother.”
— Gabriel, SDSU
“Being able to connect with a mentor helped me navigate the application process, as well as being able to work with Judy on my college applications. Also, being able to use my sponsorship money to fund summer programs.”
— Sabrina, Yale
“The Judy’s program helped me so much when applying to colleges.”
— Jude, UCSD
“Judy’s college essay writing assistance and the laptop was invaluable to me and my education.”
— Andy, UCSD
By the end of the program, students don’t just walk away with polished essays they leave with a deeper understanding of who they are, what they’ve overcome, and why their story matters. Many gain admission to top universities, and just as importantly, they gain confidence in their own voice.
Because when students learn to tell their story well, doors open.
