Isabella- Setting Goals for the Future

Who am I?My name is Isabella and I am 18 years old. I just graduated 12th grade from High Tech High Chula Vista and I am the daughter of a single mother and the sister of a 20-year-old brother who attends Community College. I am a Mexican American who is proud of her culture. I am the 14th grandchild in a big family. I am independent, a little headstrong and at times can be dramatic, but I am very determined to make my dreams come true.Speaking of dreams, one is almost in reach. I was accepted into an amazing college, Richmond, the American International University in London. This college gives me the opportunity to globally expand my dreams and see the world through my eyes, not a TV Screen.Where have I been?Life isn’t easy and it challenges and tests us constantly. I’ve had friends and family taken too soon, family go to jail, and sickness and financial trouble present in my short 18 years. Each challenge has only prepared and showed me who I am and what I am capable of. I believe the struggles in life are here to show us who we are and what really makes life beautiful. Life has also awarded me many blessings and opportunities such as being able to intern for two of the council members of the Chula Vista City Council, being apart of so many great projects at HTHCV and having the chance to start writing my own book.Where I am going? With your help, I will be able to get an incredible education and the best experiences of my life. I will have more opportunities to put my stamp on the world. I have declared myself as a communications major because I want to be a person who can be a part of and change the world’s conversation. I want to be able reach many people and communicate the change I want to see in the world. I feel that everything I have lived and learned up to this point has prepared me to do something big with my life and going to Richmond gives me the chance to do that on a level as big as my dreams.
