Meet the Team: Kelly Harfouche

Background
Kelly Harfouche grew up in the countryside just outside of Baltimore, MD, but her journey eventually led her to San Diego nine years ago. Drawn by her close relationship with her older brother, who had already moved to the city, Kelly followed him to Southern California. “San Diego has had my heart since the first time I ever visited,” she shares. But beyond the beautiful landscapes, it’s the friendships she’s forged here that make the city truly special to her. “I have grown so much as a person since moving here, and I credit that to the cultural diversity and diverse backgrounds that all my friends come from.”

From Critical Care to Aesthetic Care
Before opening her spa, KQ Aesthetic Society, Kelly spent eight years working in the medical aesthetics industry while also serving as a Critical Care RN in the Trauma ICU at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. Reflecting on her career, Kelly fondly recalls the fulfillment she found in caring for some of the hospital’s sickest patients. “It is truly a privilege to help and care for patients during what are, for most people, the worst moments of their life,” she explains.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic changed everything. The weight of the loss, suffering, and isolation her patients endured began to take a toll on Kelly’s wellbeing. It became a turning point for her, solidifying her decision to make a full-time transition into medical aesthetics and ultimately open her own business. In February, Kelly launched KQ Aesthetic Society, located in the heart of San Diego. Specializing in injectables such as neurotoxins, fillers, and biostimulators, along with microneedling, PRP, chemical peels, and hair restoration services, the spa has quickly made its mark. Kelly, currently finishing her FNP program, plans to expand her services once she graduates.

A Bridge for Kids Involvement
Kelly’s involvement with A Bridge for Kids began through her husband, Cyril, who first connected with the organization after meeting ABFK founder and CEO, Mike Nance. “He was immediately touched by the organization’s mission,” Kelly recalls. For Kelly, volunteering has always been a part of her life, and as her schedule became more flexible, she promised herself she would make time for this essential work.

Last year, after attending ABFK’s DreamMakers Gala, Kelly offered to help with future events, particularly in design - an area she loves but rarely gets to explore. This year, she’s taken on the role of leading the decoration committee for the gala, and she’s excited to unveil what she has in store. “I’ve always said that I wish I grew up in the 70s, and I am really channeling that vision for this event!” she teases, adding that the floral designs will be particularly stunning, thanks to a talented friend of hers.

Giving Back Through Inclusive Luxury
Kelly’s business philosophy is built on a foundation of “Inclusive Luxury,” a term she uses to describe her commitment to making luxury treatments accessible to those who might not typically afford them. For Mother's Day, she partnered with ABFK to offer deserving mothers the opportunity to receive a complimentary makeover. “In my opinion, mothers epitomize the best qualities of human nature, and I wanted them to be the recipients of my first give-back,” Kelly says. The initiative was a beautiful success, allowing her to give back to the community in a way that aligned with her values.

Looking Ahead: A Growing Partnership with ABFK
Kelly is excited about her future with A Bridge for Kids and sees many ways for the partnership to grow. “I would love to continue spotlighting the moms of these children and gift them services that can help rewind the years of hard work and dedication to their families,” she shares. As for her role with the DreamMakers Gala, Kelly is looking forward to continuing her creative contributions for years to come.

The Future of KQ Aesthetic Society
As for her spa, Kelly’s vision is clear: “My mission goes beyond providing exceptional care to our patients - it’s about making a meaningful difference in the community.” She’s dedicated to ensuring that as her business grows, so does her ability to give back. Whether it’s offering restorative treatments or supporting local organizations like ABFK, Kelly is committed to making San Diego a better place, one patient at a time.

Her advice to other entrepreneurs?
“Find an organization that speaks to your heart and find ways to get involved. Supporting others' success is just as important as building your own.”
