Health & Wellness: Yosemite National Park
This Labor Day weekend, to wrap up another successful season of our Health & Wellness program, A Bridge for Kids took six of its most active Health & Wellness students on a 3 day trip to Yosemite National Park. These students, who have consistently shown dedication in both their academics and Health & Wellness involvement, saved up enough Bridge Bucks to experience the natural wonders of one of America's most iconic parks.
Our adventure was nothing short of breathtaking. Each day, we were lucky enough to witness both sunrise and sunset over the awe-inspiring Yosemite Valley. The view of the towering granite walls bathed in early morning light and later in the warm glow of sunset left us all speechless. These moments were not just a reminder of nature’s beauty, but also a time for reflection, mindfulness, and appreciation for the opportunity to connect with the world around us.
The highlight of our second day was an exhilarating sunrise hike on the Mist Trail, leading us up to Vernal Falls and the Emerald Pools. After the hike, we took time to relax back at our hotel, where the students enjoyed unwinding in the pools and hot tubs - much-needed rest & relaxation after an active day.
On our drive home, the fun continued with rounds of "Car Karaoke" that had everyone singing along and enjoying the journey (aside from getting stuck in Frank Ocean purgatory - Spotify went through a glitch where it would only play Frank Ocean for about an hour). To top it all off, we stopped for a few rounds of bowling, which quickly turned into a friendly but competitive game. Laughter, camaraderie, and team spirit made for the perfect end to this incredible trip.
This Health & Wellness trip gave our students not only the chance to explore a national treasure but also the space to bond, reflect on their hard work, and recharge for the future. We are so proud of them and look forward to more opportunities to support their growth and well-being!
