Sponsored! Mya
I am Mya Ordaz, Mexican-American, a high school student at Gompers Preparatory Academy, and a first-generation student. I was born and raised in San Diego, California, I have a twin brother and a little brother. I have gotten on the honor roll every year for having a 3.5 GPA or higher in citizenship and academics. I have been in STEM programs such as Hippocrates, Be WISE, Medicine Encompassed, Health Outreach, and others such as SWAG Program and Adventure Club. I am currently volunteering at the Elementary Institute of Science as a Lab Assistant and furthering my knowledge in STEM-related lessons. I have a passion for the arts such as drawing, painting, and music as well as adventuring the world and sharing the beauty of it all with others. I love the medical field and I hope in the future I become a well-respected nurse, I love helping others and being there for people when it is needed. I have dedicated my life to science and am in love with the way the world and every living thing works. Throughout my life, I’ve always wanted to make sure that I have a plan even if it doesn’t always go the way we want it to go with a plan we have something to look forward to. We all face struggles some more than others, I for one have faced struggles and it wasn’t easy but there is always light at the end of the tunnel and it’s up to us if we want to keep going forward. There were financial struggles, physical, and mental struggles but we always have to keep in mind that we aren’t alone in all of this and things will get better if we have the courage and strength to keep going. I would say life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows and it’s up to us how we make the best of it.
So that is why I applied to A Bridge for Kids. This is a way to take an opportunity and make the best of it. It is better to try than not to try at all because you never know the outcome. If chosen to be a part of A Bridge for Kids, I would put those funds towards furthering my education and passions. I would be able to take ballet and even piano lessons, both of my greatest passions, it makes me feel alive and free. With that financial support, I would give more to my community than I would before by applying to STEM-oriented programs/classes and it would help me to buy school supplies. This sponsorship would be a great help to help me and my education by opening many doors and opportunities for my future. I would be beyond grateful if chosen and do the best of my ability to not let anyone down with this amazing opportunity.
