My name is Christine. I’m a freshman at Grossmont High school. My family includes 4 girls, my grandma, my mom and dad. As a Nigerian-American with Nigerian parents, I grew up being surrounded by culture every day. In the way we talk, the food my mom and grandma make, the church we go to every second Sunday of the month, and the way they act. I’m inspired by my oldest sisters who were both a part of ABFK and have achieved many things and my parents who started from humble beginnings to create a comfortable environment where I can be myself and be loved.
Some interests I found were to join BSU and try out for basketball in high school. I got the opportunity to join the Student Summit where I communicate ideas and problems in our school with other students and the board. Basketball has always been a sport I played since I was little. It’s been 5 years since I started playing from the Kroc Center to club teams and continuing in middle school. Although I recently only played flag football starting from 7th grade, I grew to love the sport and accept the challenges that come with it like working with new people and continuing to play even if I’m not having a good game. I’m focused on playing Flag football now and continuing to focus on my grades. In my free time, I like journaling and crafting. I started most of these hobbies in 7th grade and have continued to partake in them everyday. Journaling has been one of my favorite hobbies ever since 2025. I began journaling to jot down daily moments of my life and to communicate my feelings. Being accepted into A Bridge For Kids would be important to me because I would be able to use the assistance to buy books which I would enjoy reading and learning from, as well as help me purchase new journals which I could use to continue to express myself.
