Kevin
My name is Kevin, a 16-year-old junior at Orange Glen High, located in Escondido, California. Currently, I am taking 4 high school classes while taking 3 college courses at the local community college Palomar, so I am able to obtain my associate’s degree or get closer to it when I graduate in the year of 2026. I am on my high school sports team of cross-country and track teams. I also volunteer a lot throughout the school year and during the summer at the local middle school nearby. Not only that, but I am also bilingual, being able to speak two languages, which are English and Spanish, which is good to have in the workspace in the future when seeking a job in the future.
I think I would benefit from A Bridge For Kids because I am very involved in my school and community as stated above, with being in the sports teams, doing two sports a school year but not also that but also giving back to my community by helping Mission Middle School’s registration for the middle schoolers or helping a librarian with shelling books, preparing the electronic devices for the next school year. All this can contribute to me being able to practice time management skills, being a high school student, balancing college courses, in sports while still volunteering at a middle school which shows a lot of time management skills. Not only that, but I am able to be flexible, and use leadership skills taking charge when needed or also being helpful helping students or families when they are registering their students for the new school year to make sure they are prepared for that.
I am also on the sports team for my high school, which is cross-country and track and field. This is my 3rd year doing both sports, having done it as a freshman. I am able to work as a team with diverse people from different backgrounds and be able to contribute my equal part in the sports when I do relays in track or in cross-country, to score less points as a team to get a better place overall. It also can show sportsmanship/respect for other opponents when running but also being respectful towards others in my team or the coaches who are coaching me which can count a lot, being respectful towards others even if you don’t get along with some at times. Having those qualities are fantastic not only in sports, but also for school or to carry those qualities outside of school but also in the future workplace
