Del Mar Women’s Giving Collective Selects ABFK for Top Grant of $25,000
The Del Mar Women’s Giving Collective is a rapidly growing community of Del Mar women who each year nominate, evaluate, and donate to a select group of San Diego-based charities. Each DMWGC member commits to donating $1,000/year and then participates in an annual grant-making process, where all of the donations are distributed to local non-profits. In just seven short years membership has grown to over 60 philanthropic women!
A Bridge for Kids was honored to be selected as one of over 40 charities to apply for a grant this year. That group was quickly narrowed down to a final 6 contestants, with each organization being asked to make a short presentation. Michael Nance, A Bridge for Kids Founder, and Ava Raugust, an ABFK student and Junior at El Capitan High School, presented to the women in late April setting the stage for the final vote.
After multiple invites into the final group and a 2nd place in 2021, last week A Bridge for Kids was picked as this year’s first-place recipient and winner of a $25,000 grant. Mr. Nance was honored to receive the award for A Bridge for Kids and mentioned during his acceptance speech that this will help “kickstart the organization’s efforts to double the number of students supported by 2025.”
