Caleb

Greetings! My name is Caleb. I am a 12-year-old 7th grader attending The Preuss School UC San Diego and I like to play Basketball, Soccer, and Squash and spend time with family and friends in my free time. I live with my Mom, Dad, 1 younger brother, 1 older brother, and 1 younger sister. My father came to America to seek a better life knowing very little English and not knowing a lot of the culture in America. My dad was working 3-4 jobs having little to no sleep just to get money for when my mom came. My mother came to America a few years later after my dad settled in and luckily my dad had enough money to support my family. Now my dad is a driver and my mom is an assistant nurse at UC San Diego Medical Center and Jacobs Medical Center. My parents want me to be a good kid and have good grades, so they keep their expectations high. So, when I was 6 years old my parents made me join Kumon, a learning center, to learn Math and English. I did my best, but I still tried my hardest until the pandemic hit. Now, I am at another program called Access Youth Academy (AYA) where they teach how to play this sport called Squash and help you with your academics and so far it has been great! And I have been making new friends and my grades have been growing. My parents also ensured I enjoyed other things like soccer and basketball.

When I was younger, I wanted to become a few things. First, I wanted to be a Soccer player after watching the 2018 World Cup. Then, I wanted to be a football player. After that, I wanted to be a basketball player because of the pandemic getting me interested in other sports. And now I want to be a soccer player. To make one of these careers happen I would like to attend colleges like Stanford, Yale, USC, and Duke. I would like to attend one of these colleges because they are very good schools for my possible career pathways and interests and I would also like to play college basketball and soccer.

A Bridge For Kids could help me out in academics and athletics. If I get the sponsorship, I will use the money to get a laptop for my school work as my computer is kind of twitchy and old. I would also get some athletic equipment like a basketball, a soccer ball, some new cleats and new basketball shoes and maybe use the money for basketball and soccer camps. I would buy these not only to learn and get better at what I want but to also get into one of the colleges I mentioned above which were Stanford, Yale, USC, and Duke and to possibly better prepare me for possible career paths and possibly hopefully play college basketball or soccer.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this and giving me the opportunity for this sponsorship and I hope you have a great rest of your day.
