College Tours - 2024 Testimonials
We asked our Class of 2024 what the most impactful part of their journey with A Bridge for Kids was. Here’s what they said…
Our college tour programs have made significant strides this year, providing invaluable experiences to our students and profoundly impacting their academic and personal lives. Through these tours, students were given the chance to explore various campuses, learn about different academic programs, and envision their future paths in higher education.
When asked what the most helpful part of ABFK’s programs was, our student (class of 2024) stated, "The college tour! Without A Bridge for Kids, I would've never been able to explore the colleges that interested me and find the perfect campus." This sentiment was echoed by another who mentioned, "I used my sponsorship to purchase lacrosse cleats, AP exams, and AP prep books, but I liked the tours the most. I had the opportunity to explore new places and meet new people. Without these tours, I would have stayed in my shell and not reached beyond."
Additionally, the social aspect of these tours cannot be underestimated. As another student noted, "The most helpful part of the A Bridge for Kids Sponsorship was getting to know other individuals and the spring road trips to get to know the colleges we are applying for."
Through these experiences, students not only gained knowledge about their prospective colleges but also formed lasting connections with peers, mentors, and community members. One student summed it up perfectly, "Honestly, it was being able to connect with other first-gen low-income students from around San Diego at the ABFK annual events, and learning that I was not alone in my journey to obtaining college after high school."
The college tours have proven to be an invaluable resource, helping students to broaden their horizons, build confidence, and form lasting connections.
